Ah how I hunted for one like this back c 1980 as I wanted a faux fur that looked like Tippi Hedren's mink in The Birds, and I finally did. This is an another with that vibe as the coat is straight cut and classic, not flared and not overly huge shoulders but not the raglan hanging down that many 1950s & early 60s minks had.
Anyway this is suitable for a size UK 10 ideally but would fit a 12 or myself eg am an 8.
So it's by Astraka who were renowned for quality of their faux furs and made in UK in Shildon Durham, though their best ones used the premium Tissavel faux fur from France, especially these higher end faux minks with high thread density and a lovely soft finish. So successful were Astraka at one point, they were exporting huge orders to Russia having dressed the Bolshoi ballet in faux furs.
They aren't quite as pale as Tippi Hedren's but have got a passing resemblance see video where I have actually put this one with help from Ai rather than hers, in the scenes.
I went to some lengths back in the 80s to get a green suit and a fur like this, gloves shoes scarf the works so I could get that Tippi Hedren style....though had left one small thing our of my calculations....I wasn't blonde heh! But I enjoyed wearing the ensemble and "Wishing (If I Had A Photograph Of You)" , which is my spirit of the age and garment song by Flock of Seagulls 1982. The coat is 80s after all! And these coats were also popular with the New Romantic crowd as part of the new found glamour after punk. But difficult to get in my native Belgrade, and I had no photo either of Tippi Hedren in her mink to show boutiques what I was after. There was no internet, and I had only ever seen the movie in colour once ! And no pics around as was a 1963 movie I searched libraries and bookstores for film mags and books of that time. So hence my song choice!
Anyways this is a fab classic faux mink coat that will suit a variety of style choices or eras. Every girl should have one in their wardrobe!
Pretty immaculate condition (which so many of these aren't or they simply lack the quality of Tissavel faux mink)
